Preview: Upsala Cardinals vs. Pierz Pioneers
Upsala is 2-7 against Pierz since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Upsala Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Pierz Pioneers at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Pillager scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Upsala still came out on top. Upsala took their contest against Pillager 69-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Upsala.
Upsala's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isabel Ripplinger, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ripplinger has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brenna Graves, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Pierz can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They secured a 47-41 W over Little Falls.
The win got Upsala back to even at 7-7. As for Pierz, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-10.
Upsala came out on top in a nail-biter against Pierz in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 40-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Upsala since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
