Basketball Game Preview: San Juan Broncos vs. North Sevier Wolves

After both having extra time off, the San Juan Broncos and the North Sevier Wolves will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Juan is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, San Juan needed a bit of extra time to put away Emery. They snuck past the Spartans with a 71-67 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Broncos as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

San Juan's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tripp Palmer, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Jake Ivins was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine assists.

San Juan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, North Sevier ended up a good deal behind Valley last Friday and lost 64-47. The Wolves were down 55-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

San Juan will have to keep a close watch on Rylan Frischknecht and Brody Bulloch, a pair of players who had a big impact on North Sevier's prior game. Frischknecht made all 6 shots he took to post 14 points, while Bulloch posted 11 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Frischknecht a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Mangum, who had four points and three blocks.

San Juan's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for North Sevier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

San Juan was able to grind out a solid win over North Sevier in their previous meeting back in January, winning 64-57. Will San Juan repeat their success, or does North Sevier have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
