Preview: Omaha South Packers vs. Omaha Northwest Huskies

Having just played yesterday, the Omaha South Packers will get right back to it and host the Omaha Northwest Huskies at 2:45 p.m. on February 10th. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Omaha South and seven for Omaha Northwest.

Omaha South pushed their score all the way to 55 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 74-55 fall against Fremont.

Despite the defeat, Omaha South had strong showings from Lou Hodoly, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Mar Cantu, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cantu has scored all season. Keegan Kimble was another key contributor, scoring nine points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-51, which was the final score in Omaha Northwest's tilt against Jefferson on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Omaha Northwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 209th in Nebraska, while Jefferson is ranked 32nd in Iowa).

Despite the defeat, Omaha Northwest got a solid performance out of Chiok John, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Crawford, who scored eight points.

Omaha South has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Omaha Northwest, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Omaha South came up short against Omaha Northwest when the teams last played back in January, falling 80-71. Will Omaha South have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
