Baseball Recap: West Memphis Christian Wins Going Away Against Lee Academy

West Memphis Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lee Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everything went the West Memphis Christian Black Knights' way against the Lee Academy Cougars on Tuesday as the West Memphis Christian Black Knights made off with a 13-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Black Knights, who have now won four matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cannon Morgan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of West Memphis Christian's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Morgan was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Eli Ford, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for West Memphis Christian: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.

West Memphis Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Lee Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

West Memphis Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-1 win against Horn Lake on the 12th. As for Lee Academy, they will square off against West Memphis Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lee Academy has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
