Baseball Recap: Carroll Finds Home Field Redemption Against Tri-Central

There's no place like home for Carroll, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past the Tri-Central Trojans 11-1 on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Xavier Williams made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Travis Tinsman was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Owen Zinn, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tri-Central only posted a batting average of .143.

With the win, Carroll broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7. As for Tri-Central, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coincidentally, Carroll and Tri-Central will both be playing Delphi Community the next time they take the field. The Trojans will host the Oracles at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Cougars will head out to face them at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
