Softball Game Preview: Estill County Engineers vs. Garrard County Golden Lions

The Estill County Engineers will take on the Garrard County Golden Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Estill County's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Garrard County has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Western Hills hit Estill County with a four-run seventh inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Engineers fell 7-3 to the Wolverines.

Callee Snowden was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Rose, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Casey County hit Garrard County with a five-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Lions lost 12-2 to the Rebels.

Garrard County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Murphy, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Estill County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Garrard County, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Estill County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Garrard County struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Everything went Estill County's way against Garrard County in their previous matchup back in March, as Estill County made off with a 14-4 victory. Will the Engineers repeat their success, or do the Golden Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
