DeAmor Coleman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gloria Alcaire, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matea Gaddies, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, San Rafael unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak last Monday. They fell 5-1 to Archie Williams. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.
Thomara Drummer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks.
Salesian College Preparatory pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for San Rafael, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Salesian College Preparatory has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like San Rafael struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
