Softball Recap: Strawberry Crest Takes a Loss

After flying high against Sickles last Tuesday, Strawberry Crest came back down to earth. Strawberry Crest fell 11-7 to the Steinbrenner Warriors on Friday. The Chargers have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Ava Cater made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-4. Shelby Lawrence was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Strawberry Crest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .317 or higher in three consecutive games.

Strawberry Crest's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Steinbrenner, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Coming up, Strawberry Crest will head out on the road to take on Wharton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Strawberry Crest's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wharton has averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Steinbrenner, they will take on Alonso at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Steinbrenner is on a ten-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Alonso a three-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
