The Osceola Warriors will challenge the Boca Ciega Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Osceola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Osceola blew River Ridge out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday River Ridge got their revenge. The Warriors fell just short of the Royal Knights by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Warriors were not able to get on the board.
Aliyah Lai spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Osceola saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jenna Neupaver, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Boca Ciega, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Indian Rocks Christian by a score of 12-9 on Thursday.
Stella Rawlinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Rawlinson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lexi Bordeaux and Soli Godonis did most of the damage at the plate: Bordeaux scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Godonis scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Godonis has posted since back in April of 2024. Giavanni D'Amico was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Osceola's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-6. As for Boca Ciega, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Osceola hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Boca Ciega struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Osceola took their victory against Boca Ciega in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
