Football Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Whitehouse Wildcats

The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will take on the Whitehouse Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Last Friday, Mt. Pleasant came up short against Sulphur Springs and fell 24-14. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Wildcats are ranked 227th).

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Whitehouse was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 312 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Mt. Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Whitehouse, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Mt. Pleasant was taken down by Whitehouse 42-14 in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Thankfully for Mt. Pleasant, Jakob Carey (who rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 147 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes) won't be suiting up this time.
