Basketball Recap: Lone Star Sets Scoring Season-High Against Peetz

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lone Star). They breezed past the Peetz Bulldogs to the tune of 63-25 on Monday. The Longhorns have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Lone Star's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jade Kuntz led the charge by almost dropping a double-double with 16 points and nine assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Peytyn Kuntz, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 16 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Jade wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Lone Star was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peetz only seven assists.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylee Raffelson, who posted seven points along with seven boards and five blocks. The dominant performance gave Raffelson a new career-high in blocks.

Lone Star moved to 10-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Peetz, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

Lone Star will take on Bethune at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Lone Star is facing Bethune at the right time seeing as Bethune is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Peetz, they will face off against Weldon Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Peetz has given up an average of 49.5 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.
