The Warrior Run Defenders will take on the Milton Black Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Warrior Run has ten straight wins, Milton has 14 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
While Warrior Run's victory against Mifflinburg wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Defenders skirted past the Wildcats 3-1.
Landon Polcyn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Griffen Harrington was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Betz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Milton came up short against Danville on Wednesday, falling 16-1.
Milton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Reiff, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
Warrior Run pushed their record up to 17-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Milton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.
Milton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Warrior Run hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. It's a different story for Milton, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Warrior Run's hitters?
