Softball Recap: Fernley Comes Up Short

Fernley's tournament run continued when they took on Las Plumas on Friday. The Vaqueros came up short against the Thunderbirds, falling 12-1. The Vaqueros have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fernley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ximena Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Fernley's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Las Plumas, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 18-1-1.

Looking ahead, Fernley will challenge Foothill at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vaqueros' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Las Plumas, they will be taking part in a tournament against Truckee at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.96 runs per game on average), something the Thunderbirds will no doubt try to take advantage of.
