Baseball Game Preview: Amboy Clippers vs. Durand/Pecatonica Rivermen

The Amboy Clippers will take on the Durand/Pecatonica Rivermen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Amboy will be strutting in after a victory while Durand/Pecatonica will be coming in after a loss.

Amboy was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 win over Pearl City.

The team relied heavily on Caleb Shugars, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Quinn Leffelman, who scored a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Durand/Pecatonica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of East Dubuque.

Durand/Pecatonica's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Amboy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
