Basketball Recap: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Westlake Demons

After flying high against Lincoln West last Monday, Valley Forge came back down to earth. The Valley Forge Patriots came up short against the Westlake Demons on Friday, falling 82-56. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-24.

Westlake was led to victory by Hayden Purdy and Evan Hargett. Purdy almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards, while Hargett went 6 of 10 on his way to 16 points and six assists. Those 16 points gave Purdy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cody Gentry, who posted nine points and four steals.

Valley Forge's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Westlake, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2.

Valley Forge will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Westlake, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 72-64 win against North Ridgeville on the 21st.
