Softball Recap: Chuckey-Doak Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Greene

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chuckey-Doak). Everything went their way against the West Greene Buffaloes on Thursday as they made off with an 18-7 victory. This was a revenge game for the Black Knights: when they faced off against the Buffaloes back in March, they had to take a 20-7 defeat.

Tralyn Southerland was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Saniah Atchison, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Chuckey-Doak kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 11.2.

The win made it two in a row for Chuckey-Doak and bumps their season record up to 5-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for West Greene, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Chuckey-Doak has already played their next contest, a 15-11 win against Happy Valley on the 25th. As for West Greene, they will square off against Greeneville at 5:30 a.m. on Monday. The Buffaloes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greene Devils have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season.
