Softball Recap: North Posey Starts Season with Victory on the Road

North Posey had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Perry Central Commodores 16-2 on Saturday. That's more bragging rights for the Vikings, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sophie Scheller looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave her a new career-low.

At the plate, North Posey let Morgan Lavanchy and Mylee Allen run wild. Lavanchy went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Allen went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave Lavanchy a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Lily Hester, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Looking ahead, North Posey will head out on the road to challenge Evansville Harrison at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Perry Central, they will host Shoals at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
