Softball Recap: Smoky Valley Triumphs

Smoky Valley won the last time they faced Nickerson and things went their way on Monday too. The Vikings came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 10-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Rylie Neywick made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rylie Tolle was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Kaitlyn Schoshke also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Smoky Valley's record now sits at 5-13. As for Nickerson, they dropped their record down to 2-18 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Smoky Valley will challenge rival Hoisington at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Nickerson is set to square off against their familiar foe Larned at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
