Basketball Game Preview: Wolfe City Wolves vs. Honey Grove Warriors

The Wolfe City Wolves will head out on the road to square off against the Honey Grove Warriors at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Wolfe City has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Honey Grove will arrive with five straight wins.

Wolfe City is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since January 26, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Trenton by a score of 34-31.

Despite the defeat, Wolfe City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Noah Adams posted eight points along with 12 boards and three steals. Adams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last 16 games he's played.

Sam Rayburn typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Honey Grove proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 47-38 victory over the Rebels.

Honey Grove's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.3 points per game. As for Wolfe City, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.

Wolfe City suffered a grim 50-29 defeat to Honey Grove when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Wolfe City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
