Basketball Game Preview: Baboquivari Warriors vs. Desert Christian Eagles

The Baboquivari Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Desert Christian Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Baboquivari took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 48-40 win over The Gregory School.

Meanwhile, Desert Christian entered their tilt with Willcox on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 63-52. The Eagles pushed the score to 52-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cowboys cut but never quite recovered from.

Desert Christian's win came from a few key players Baboquivari will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyson Dobbins, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Payne, who went 5 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Desert Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Baboquivari, their victory bumped their record up to 18-10.

Everything went Baboquivari's way against Desert Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Baboquivari made off with a 74-53 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Dobbins, who went 15 of 31 on his way to 36 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
