Baseball Game Preview: Midlothian Heritage Jaguars vs. Longview Lobos

The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars will square off against the Longview Lobos at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Longview took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Midlothian Heritage, who comes in off a win.

Midlothian Heritage had to kick off their season on the road two weeks ago, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Everman a 16-0 shutout.

Ben Edwards looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Midlothian Heritage let Connor Flaherty and Bailey Huber run wild. Flaherty went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Huber went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Huber a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lex Armey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Midlothian Heritage kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Everman only managed one.

Meanwhile, Longview unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marshall on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Longview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Guidry, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
