Softball Recap: Winchester Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Winchester's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Wilmington on Friday. The Red & Black put the hurt on the Somerville Highlanders with a sharp 22-2 victory. The Red & Black haven't had any issues with the Highlanders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Tessa Capodanno made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Capodanno was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Julia Legere and Carys Gugliotta did most of the damage at the plate: Legere scored three runs while going 2-for-3, while Gugliotta scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, Gugliotta posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Ella Centurelli was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

The victory got Winchester back to even at 1-1.

Coming up, Winchester will square off against Cambridge Rindge & Latin at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Somerville, they will venture away from home to challenge Malden at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
