Basketball Game Preview: Mart Panthers vs. Marlin Bulldogs

Mart hasn't had much luck against Marlin recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mart Panthers will look to defend their home court against the Marlin Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Mart turned things around against Bruceville-Eddy on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 48-40.

Meanwhile, Marlin entered their tilt with Chilton on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They breezed by the Pirates to the tune of 87-10. The contest marked the Bulldogs' most dominant win of the season.

Marlin's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Mart, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

Mart was dealt a bruising 64-29 loss at the hands of Marlin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Mart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
