Baseball Game Preview: New Richmond Lions vs. Goshen Warriors

The New Richmond Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Goshen Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

It was a proper cat-fight when New Richmond faced off against Clark Montessori on Tuesday. The Lions skirted past the Cougars 3-1.

Lucas Sheppard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, New Richmond saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Taggart, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The Lions are undefeated when Taggart posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-7 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Goshen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Blanchester on Tuesday.

New Richmond's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-7. As for Goshen, their victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-3.
