Basketball Recap: Burleson Takes a Loss

Burleson was the 46-33 winner over Mansfield Summit when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Burleson Elks were dealt a 65-20 defeat at the hands of the Mansfield Summit Jaguars on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 763rd, while the Jaguars are ranked 47th).

Burleson dropped their record down to 7-17 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Mansfield Summit, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Burleson will host Seguin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Burleson is facing Seguin at the right time seeing as Seguin is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Mansfield Summit, they are taking a road trip to face off against Mansfield Timberview at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
