Basketball Recap: James F. Byrnes Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Fabian Mcclintock and Colt Fowler

James F. Byrnes has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 53-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the Boiling Springs Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rebels came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Bulldogs are ranked 32nd).

Colt Fowler and Fabian McClintock certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Fowler posted 15 points in addition to six assists and five rebounds, while McClintock went 5-for-10 on his way to 17 points and five boards. McClintock is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 17 games he's played. Sukhi Singh was another key player, putting up six points.

James F. Byrnes' defeat dropped their record down to 23-2. As for Boiling Springs, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James F. Byrnes will square off against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something James F. Byrnes surely won't give up without a fight. As for Boiling Springs, they will face off against Gaffney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
