Basketball Game Preview: Montgomery Bears vs. Huntsville Hornets

Montgomery is 0-5 against Huntsville since December of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Montgomery Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Huntsville Hornets at 6:15 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Montgomery and Brenham faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Thursday. Montgomery took down Brenham 53-38. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 276th, while the Cubs are ranked 632nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Huntsville entered their tilt with Brenham on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Cubs 60-35.

Huntsville is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 18-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.9 points per game. As for Montgomery, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 21-9.

Things could have been worse for Montgomery, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-39 loss to Huntsville in their previous matchup on January 3rd. Can Montgomery avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
