Football Recap: Selma Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sipsey Valley

Selma made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Sipsey Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Saints fell just short of the Bears by a score of 41-38 on Friday. On the bright side, the 38- point effort marked the Saints' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Despite the loss, Selma still got an impressive performance from Samarion Woods, who rushed for 218 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 186 yards and one touchdown while completing 78.9% of his passes. A healthy portion of Woods' aerial production (80 yards to be exact) went to Cairen Curtis.

Sipsey Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Bennett out in front who rushed for 322 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.5 yards per carry. Jayden Howard was another key player, rushing for 92 yards and three TDs on only 11 carries.

This is the second loss in a row for Selma and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.0 points over those games. As for Sipsey Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

Coming up, Selma will square off against Keith at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Saints will be up against the Bears' rather soft defense (which has allowed 36.78 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Sipsey Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
