Baseball Recap: Arroyo Comes Up Short

Arroyo fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Mountain View on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 7-6. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Noah Fonseca made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Manny Vargas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Arroyo's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-5-1. As for Mountain View, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arroyo will take on Rosemead at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mountain View, they will challenge South El Monte at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 1.7 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
