Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Marion-Franklin

Marion-Franklin entered their tilt with Walnut Ridge on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Scots 14-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-2 on April 8th.

Rylee Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs.

In other batting news, Lily Dexter was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Azul Martinez was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three runs.

Marion-Franklin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

Marion-Franklin's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.5 runs over those games. As for Walnut Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
