Greenway is 1-9 against Thunderbird since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Demons will host the Titans at 7:00 p.m. Greenway will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Greenway picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They came out on top against Superior by a score of 7-3.
David Perez tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Thaddeus Newman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Adrian Chance, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Greenway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Mesquite hit Thunderbird with a 11-run fifth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Titans lost 18-12 to the Wildcats. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Titans, who until this matchup were averaging 3.48 runs allowed.
Tyson Gorder and Richard Voyce stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gorder went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Voyce went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Donathan, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Thunderbird's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Greenway, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Greenway has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Thunderbird struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Greenway might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Thunderbird in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Demons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
