Basketball Recap: Shorewood Takes a Loss

Shorewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 72-63 to the Brown Deer Falcons. The Greyhounds were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 59-51.

Despite the loss, Shorewood still got an impressive performance from Serinity Metcalfe, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and ten boards. Metcalfe's evening made it 27 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyah Nelson, who posted eight points and 24 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Shorewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brown Deer only pulled down five offensive boards.

It was another big night for Ameerah Grant, who went 15-for-31 en route to 50 points for Brown Deer. That makes it 20 consecutive games in which Grant has scored at least a third of Brown Deer's points. Teriana Higgins was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Shorewood's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Brown Deer, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season.

Coming up, Shorewood will face off against Milwaukee Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brown Deer has already played their next contest (against Greenfield), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
