Baseball Recap: Cox Mill Comes Up Short

After a string of three wins, Cox Mill's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 10-4 to the Mooresville Blue Devils. The Chargers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Cox Mill got a good showing from Mason Hill, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Hill has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tyler Cartee was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Trendyn Motley, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Cox Mill's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. As for Mooresville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Coming up, Cox Mill will square off against Hopewell at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mooresville, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Alexander Central at 6:30 p.m. Mooresville's pitchers better be ready for this one: Alexander Central has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
