Softball Recap: Perry-Lecompton Kaws vs. Jefferson West Tigers
Perry-Lecompton had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it four. They lost 13-3 to the Jefferson West Tigers. The Kaws were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.
Autumn Flory made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Macie Corcoran, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
As for Jefferson West, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-2. Considering they have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Jefferson West's side, they got a massive performance out of Ryleigh Zitek, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Zitek a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Harriet Dean, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jefferson West beat Perry-Lecompton by a score of 15-9 later that day.
