Baseball Recap: Parkland Comes Up Short

Parkland was the 7-6 winner over Hazleton Area when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Trojans took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cougars on Saturday. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Julio Ventura made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season.

Parkland's loss dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Hazleton Area, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Parkland and Hazleton Area should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Trojans will take on Pleasant Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (25 vs. 433). Meanwhile, Hazleton Area (ranked 77th) will meet Crestwood (ranked 311th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
