Softball Recap: Mora Takes a Loss

If Mora was riding high fresh off their 13-3 takedown of Pecos last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rangers/Rangerettes lost 22-16 to the McCurdy Bobcats on Tuesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (13), the Rangers/Rangerettes still had to take the loss.

Jasmine Romero and Krista Valdez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Romero went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Valdez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jazzlyn Duran, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Mora moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for McCurdy, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mora beat the Bobcats by a score of 7-5 later that day.
