Softball Recap: Cascade Bruins vs. Shorewood Stormrays

With a playoff game on the line, Cascade rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past the Shorewood Stormrays 6-5. The win was nothing new for Cascade as they're now sitting on four straight.

Mia Walker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Cascade let Jaidyn Wilson and Kodie Rasmussen loose on the outfield. Wilson scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Rasmussen scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauryn Thompson, who went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and a double.

Cascade's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. As for Shorewood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.
