Football Recap: Luis Flores Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat United South

There's no place like home for Eagle Pass, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the United South Panthers on Friday as they made off with a 45-24 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eagle Pass to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luis Flores, who rushed for 123 yards and a pair of scores. That's the most rushing yards Flores has posted since back in October of 2024. Jeremiah Silva was in the mix too, providing Eagle Pass with two TDs.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rolando Gonzalez, who threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 31 yards. Armando Cadena was another key player, rushing for 96 yards and one score.

Eagle Pass has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for United South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Eagle Pass will challenge Del Rio at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.33 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for United South, they will welcome Laredo LBJ at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
