Soccer Game Preview: Pace Academy vs. Woodward Academy

The Pace Academy Knights will venture away from home to take on the Woodward Academy War Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Pace Academy has three straight wins, Woodward Academy has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Pace Academy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Mays with a sharp 12-0 victory. Alexa Ibarra was a massive factor in the win as she booted in six goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Woodward Academy came up short against Lovett on Tuesday, falling 8-1. While losing is never fun, Woodward Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Lovett are ranked 50th).

Woodward Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Pace Academy, their win bumped their record up to 11-4.

Everything went Pace Academy's way against Woodward Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Pace Academy made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
