Stone Memorial hasn't had much luck against DeKalb County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will square off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

It was a proper cat-fight when Stone Memorial took on Livingston Academy on Thursday. The Panthers narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Wildcats 4-2.

Breanna Looper was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cadence Cox, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, DeKalb County waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Panthers. Two seems to be a good number for the Tigers as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Not much got past Kora Kilgore, who gave up just five hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Stone Memorial off the board. Kilgore has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, DeKalb County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee Wilbur, who got on base in three of her six plate appearances with one RBI.

DeKalb County's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Stone Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
