Football Recap: Franklin Cougars vs. Midland Legacy Rebels

Franklin and Midland Legacy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Franklin had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 56-14 loss at the hands of the Midland Legacy Rebels. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 428th, while the Rebels are ranked 74th).

Noah Friesen rushed for 76 yards. Santiago Perez was his top target, picking up 37 receiving yards. On the ground, Ernie Powers rushed for 99 yards.

Midland Legacy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mackenzie Rogers out in front who rushed for 66 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Caden Ellis was in the mix as well, providing Midland Legacy with two touchdowns.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Midland Legacy, they now also have a winning record of 6-5.

Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Midland Legacy, they and Trinity are set to duel on Saturday. Trinity knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Midland Legacy likes a good challenge.
