Softball Recap: Genoa Area Takes a Loss

Genoa Area was the 15-4 winner over Rossford when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Comets came up short against the Bulldogs on Monday, falling 17-8. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mya Colvin and Emersen Bickel did some serious damage despite the final result: Colvin went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Bickel scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Bickel has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bronowski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Genoa Area now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Rossford, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Genoa Area and Rossford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Comets will square off against Maumee at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday with a big rank disadvantage (310 vs. 154). Meanwhile, Rossford (ranked 347th) will meet Oak Harbor (ranked 82nd) at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
