Basketball Recap: First Presbyterian Day Falls Despite Big Games from Oliver Bateman and Jones Handberry

First Presbyterian Day lost against John Milledge Academy back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The First Presbyterian Day Vikings lost 69-48 to the John Milledge Academy Trojans. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

First Presbyterian Day's loss came despite strong showings from Jones Handberry and Oliver Bateman. Handberry went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points, while Bateman posted ten points. The dominant performance gave Bateman a new career-high in points. Luke Judah was another key player, putting up six points.

Isaiah Johnson was his usual excellent self, going 11 for 20 on his way to 30 points in addition to six steals and five boards for John Milledge Academy. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. Hutton Echols also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first rebound of the season.

First Presbyterian Day's record is now 4-16. As for John Milledge Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

First Presbyterian Day has already played their next contest, a 59-49 defeat against Southland Academy on the 1st. John Milledge Academy has also already played their next matchup (against Piedmont Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
