Basketball Recap: Cash Cooper's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Madill over Sulphur

Madill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Sulphur Bulldogs by a score of 56-53. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cash Cooper, who went 6 of 8from beyond the arc en route to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Cooper a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jagger Rogers, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Madill's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Sulphur, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Madill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 64-49 loss against Purcell on the 7th. As for Sulphur, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-42 defeat against Harding Prep on the 7th.
