Basketball Preview: Downtown Doral Dolphins vs. Ransom Everglades Raiders
The Downtown Doral Dolphins will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Ransom Everglades Raiders at 5:00 p.m. on February 5th. Downtown Doral will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 582nd, while the Raiders are ranked 230th).
Downtown Doral was handed a 50-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against the Bison on Wednesday. Downtown Doral came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bison and snuck past 35-32. The victory was just what Downtown Doral needed coming off of a 57-7 loss in their prior contest.
Downtown Doral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andrea Mole, who scored 20 points. Isabella Osorno was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Ransom Everglades waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They managed a 45-40 win over TERRA Environmental.
It was another big night for Gabriela Pena, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Nica Rosenberg, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Downtown Doral's record is now 6-11. As for Ransom Everglades, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Downtown Doral was taken down by the Raiders 62-7 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ransom Everglades' Holly Clement, who scored 18 points along with three steals.
