Basketball Game Preview: Ralston Valley Mustangs vs. Denver East Angels

Having just played yesterday, the Ralston Valley Mustangs will jump right back in to play the Denver East Angels at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ralston Valley picked up another tournament win on Friday. They snuck past Fossil Ridge with a 46-42 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ralston Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Frank Psaute, who went 5-for-11 en route to 14 points and three steals. What's more, Psaute posted four assists, the most he's had since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Spain, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, Denver East was able to grind out a solid victory over Liberty on Friday, taking the game 67-60.

Denver East's win came from a few key players Ralston Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Dayesun Collier, who went 6-for-11 from beyond the arc to rack up 29 points. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 22 points. Nijier Alexander was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.

Ralston Valley's record now sits at 2-0. As for Denver East, their record is now an identical 2-0.

Ralston Valley ended up a good deal behind Denver East in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, losing 69-50. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
