Two dominant signal callers in Dashiell Coleman and Wyatt Frey are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Elmwood-Murdock Knights will square off against the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Elmwood-Murdock sitting on seven straight wins and Lawrence-Nelson on eight.
Elmwood-Murdock is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Bancroft-Rosalie 58-14. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Panthers are ranked 89th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brody Marsh was his usual excellent self, rushing for 203 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Clayton Wagner also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Elmwood-Murdock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.
Elmwood-Murdock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Clayton Fletcher.
Meanwhile, Lawrence-Nelson humbled Osceola with a 59-14 victory. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won six contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Elmwood-Murdock better keep an eye on Jackson Williams. He was instrumental in Lawrence-Nelson's win, rushing for 76 yards and one score on only six carries.
Lawrence-Nelson's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Brandt Mclaughlin, Cooper Heikkinen, and Caden Culbertson, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Elmwood-Murdock's record now sits at 8-1. As for Lawrence-Nelson, their record is now an identical 8-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Elmwood-Murdock has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 267.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Lawrence-Nelson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 267.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
