League recap: Nalley's hitting boosts Ferris

3A Region II District 11 league recap: 3/27/13

Jordan Nalley had the hottest bat in 3A Region II District 11 this week, racking up a .714 average with seven RBIs. Ferris went 2-0.

The Yellowjackets outpaced the rest of the league this week, as their two total wins led the league. Ferris beat Wilmer-Hutchins 15-0 and Madison 28-0.

The Yellowjackets boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Even after stealing 20 bases to lead the league over the past week, the Eagles are still looking up at Ferris, which ranks No. 1 in steals, with 71 on the year.

12 batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Redell Green, who collected four hits in four at bats for a 1.000 average.

The Yellowjackets' Nalley racked up seven RBIs this week, more than any other hitter. Nalley has 21 RBIs this season, first in the league.



Lorenzo Garcia struck out eight in Ferris' 15-0 win over Wilmer-Hutchins on March 26. He gave up one hit and zero runs over three innings of work.

Nalley was an RBI machine on Friday, as he knocked in four runs during the Yellowjackets' 28-0 win over the Trojans. He went 3-for-4 and scored two runs.
