Basketball Recap: Jaylon Creer's Big Game Can't Quite Lead St. Mary's over Regents Academy

St. Mary suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2024 on Friday. They lost 60-35 to the Regents Academy Eagles. St. Mary's was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.

Several St. Mary's players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylon Creer, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points. Another player making a difference was Eithan Kimmerling, who posted six points.

Regents Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karsten Dodson out in front who went 7 of 16 en route to 19 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Dodson a new career-high in points. Stephen Crescenzo was another key player, putting up seven points and six boards.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Regents Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7.

St. Mary's will face off against Athens Christian Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st. Athens Christian Preparatory Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. Regents Academy has already played their next game, a 36-34 win against Trinity School of Texas on the 28th.
