League recap: Brandon climbs in state rankings

Brandon scaled the state rankings by moving to 213 from 262 this week, the biggest jump in Flint Metro. The Blackhawks were able to make move up by topping Kearsley 46-0.

The Hornets lost to Brandon 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Gage Smith was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 16 carries, he ran for 119 yards as Linden fell to Fenton. Teammate Kevin Bates added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.

Marshall was the best receiver in the league this week as the Eagles fell to the Tigers. Marshall racked up 5 receptions for 63 yards. Marshael Ryan helped Linden's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 24 yards.

Smith was a passing and rushing force as Linden fell to Fenton.

Nick Keller put up the best numbers through the air as Tim Pizzala's team topped Kearsley. He finished with 13 completions for 173 yards and 2 touchdowns. Keller's favorite target this week was Jake Sutherland, who caught 4 passes for 58 yards.

6-foot-1 quarterback Keller of the Blackhawks is the league leader in passing yards this season with 173. He has also thrown 2 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Marshall. The Linden star has 5 catches for 63 yards.

An important game coming up this Flint Metro this week will be when Brandon takes on Lapeer West. As it stands, the Blackhawks are in fifth, while the Panthers are in first.

Holly and Swartz Creek played the closest game in the league this week, with Holly eventually emerging with a 32-26 victory.
